Yes Dave, it was ‘not a good week’

The Panama Papers leak revealed that Ian Cameron, the Prime Minister’s father, owned an offshore based business in which David Cameron owned shares. The PM’s involvement is not illegal, but it’s hypocritical.

On the third of April, German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung published 2.6 terabytes of encrypted internal documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. This revealed how the rich avoid paying tax. Listed in the documents was Ian Cameron, the father of our current Prime Minister and owner of Blairmore Holdings Inc – an offshore investment fund. A Word on the Migrant Crisis

By the end of 2014 there were 19.5 million people classed as refugees worldwide and the situation has gotten worse. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in the first two months of 2016, 131,724 refugees began the journey to Europe. 410 never arrived.  55% of those arriving from war-torn Syria are women and children. They are not looking to take your job, benefits or destroy British culture, they simply want a safe, warm bed. Too much to ask?

‘Ridiculous, Counter Productive, Playground Behavior’

That’s what I labeled the behavior in the House of Commons in my last post and things have got even worse since.

The House of Commons is an arena to discuss, debate and challenge the decisions of the government but with our own Prime Minister making ‘Yo moma’ jokes, MPs seem to have lost sight of what they are paid £75,000 a year to do, and this is harming the public’s view of politics. Continue reading

‘The EU referendum has no impact on you’

That’s what the majority of the House of Commons would say to me; that because I am not yet 18, this once in a generation vote will have no impact on my life and I can’t have a valid opinion about it. I disagree, strongly.

Votes for 16 year olds has gained more momentum in recent years, which is great.  The vote was even given to those aged between 16 – 18 in the 2014 Scottish referendum yet, a young person who was allowed to vote back then could be too young to vote in the upcoming EU referendum, even though they are now older . As though their ability to make a decision has been eradicated since September 2014 only to return on their 18th birthday. It all seems a bit strange.

The man was arrested by police shortly after the firearms were detected by an x-ray machine in the entrance to the hotel, situated just a ten minute walk from Disneyland Paris which attracted 10 million visitors in 2014.
